- The Camp
With a panoramic view over the game-rich plains lying beneath the lush Chyulu Hills and snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Severin Safari Camp provides an unequalled experience of life in the wilds of Southern Kenya. Set in the Tsavo West National Park – a wilderness of savannah grasslands, river woodlands and cool mountain forests – the camp is designed to bring guests as close to nature as possible. In these magnificent surroundings, guests will find a perfect blend of perfect hospitality and nature at its best. Relying on modern technologies to protect the beauty of our environment, Severin Safari Camp merges perfectly into an unspoilt landscape so our visitors can become completely at one with the wilderness.
The reception area, under the cool of makuti thatch, accommodates the main dining room, Thorn Tree bar and Kili shop. The main high light of the day is the camp fire, lit in the evenings, to let you reflect on the day’s safari overlooking one of the two waterholes. Camp cooking is a priority with a unique a la carte menu available for dinner complimented by fine African wines. The chef’s specialty includes venison cooking on the hot stone and fondue.
This addition to the Severin hospitality product range was recently constructed with spacious octagonal tents equipped with walk in bathroom facilities. The main challenge was to provide the height of luxury and comfort in contrast to the rough African bush. The modern tents are fitted with 240 volt power. And to ensure security Maasai warriors are on hand 24 hrs a day within the camp grounds.
