Siana Springs Intrepids lies at the base of the Ngama hills outside the eastern border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp, fringed by wetlands and surrounded by giant fig and ghostly Fever Trees, is named for the perennial springs that bubble around the camp - a lush oasis in a dry landscape. The Maasai share in the venture. Siana Intrepids is ideal for honeymoons, special occasions, tour groups, incentives and leisure groups.

Long before the Maasai Mara National Reserve was established in 1961, the Kenyan authorities had recognised the ecological significance of the grasslands. One of the men sent to protect the wildlife in the early 1950s was Major Lyn Temple-Boreham. He fell in love with Siana Springs and helped set it up as a permanent camp. Legendary 'white hunter', Glen Cottar, later established a lodge here called 'Cottar's Camp'.

Wil dlif e roa ms free as no fences separate the Maasai Mara from the Siana Group Ranch. The camp commands sweeping views over the greatest grassland system on earth - the Maasai Mara. The Mara spans 1 500km² and together with the neighbouring Serengeti, is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. The annual great migration of nearly two million wildebeest and other grazing ungulates is the Mara's foremost attraction and one of the greatest spectacles in the animal kingdom. Add to this a profusion of birdlife and untouched wilderness and you have magical Maasai Mara - an exclusive tented safari experience.

Enormous trees provide ample shade for the three wings of this exclusive camp. A tranquil atmosphere pervades the camp and total privacy is ensured at Palm Wing (9 tents), Bamboo Wing (19 tents) and Acacia Wing (10 tents). All tents are spacious and have en suite bathroom, soft lighting, zip-up front entrances and windows. Tents are tucked amongst a small forest of indigenous trees and open onto trimmed lawns in a pristine setting. Askaris (Maasai warrior security guards) accompany you to and from your tent in the evenings. An elegant indoor lounge/bar area offers refreshments, especially welcome at the end of a warm day. You may relax and socialise on the large patio area warmed by a fireplace. The swimming pool is a cool retreat - poolside dinners and parties are often hosted here. The reception can be found at the entrance to the camp near our curio shop, which is filled with African treasures. Siana Intrepids boasts two observation hides with spectacular views of the Mara hills and plains.
